About 1100 North Lake Shore Drive

1100 North Lake Shore Drive is a forty story high-rise residential building located directly across from the Oak Street Beach. Designed by Chicago architect Harry Weese, it was built in 1979-1980 as a condominium with seventy-six units. Some units have been combined, so there are now seventy-two. Three tiers are serviced by two elevators – the A and C tiers are two-story duplex units with entry on the odd-numbered floors; and the B tier units are all single-floor units located on each floor. Units on the A tier have views of Lake Michigan to the east, the B units have views of Lake Michigan to the east and the city to the south, and the C units have views of the city to the north, south and west. Building amenities include a large Hospitality Room with an attached kitchen; a well equipped Exercise Room; a Laundry Room, and a Sun Deck. Washers & Dryers are permitted in the units, and pets (dogs or cats) are permitted if they weigh 30 pounds or less. The attached four story parking garage is owned by the Association and features round-the-clock valet parking for residents and guests of residents. Each unit has a private Storage Locker in the basement. An on-site Building Manager is present during business hours, a maintenance person resides in the building to provide full time maintenance, and security is provided by round-the-clock doormen.
