About 40 East Delaware

40 East Delaware Place began its life as the Hotel Eitel in 1926. The 17 story structure was built under the direction of accomplished architect Louis Guenzel, a one-time draftsmen for Frank Lloyd Wright.  In 1981 the hotel was purchased by a group headed by Dan Goldman, renovated, and reclassified as 40 East Delaware Place. The apartments were updated again in the early 1990s and in 1997 the first board was established. Today, 40 East Delaware is an intimate 75 unit boutique building located half a block from Michigan Avenue’s famed “Magnificent Mile.” Residents live amongst a panoply of renowned restaurants and boutique shops and are only blocks removed from Lake Michigan, the Chicago River, Grant Park, and Chicago’s Theatre District. Building amenities include a 24 hour Door Staff, on site maintenance and management staff, and a common sundeck and fitness center. 40 East Delaware is a vibrant and welcoming community located in one of Chicago’s premier neighborhoods.
