About Edgewater Beach

The Edgewater Beach Apartments (EBA) is a cooperative apartment building opened in 1928. It is adjacent to the Edgewater Beach Hotel, a resort hotel opened in 1916, on the shores of Lake Michigan on the north side of Chicago. The hotel closed in 1967, but the EBA remains as a landmarked testament to the spacious elegance and solid construction that characterize the best buildings of the Roaring Twenties.
The EBA provides a comfortable, convenient, and elegant lifestyle for the occupants of its 300 apartments. The building is maintained to a high standard. In a 14 million dollar project, completed in 1999, all of its windows were replaced with high-quality triple-track Winstrom aluminum windows, and its distinctive pink stucco exterior was extensively renovated. Amenities include a 60-foot heated indoor pool with adjacent party space; weight and exercise rooms; library; craft room; two acres of award-winning gardens; a gazebo; an arcade of shops; a two-level heated indoor garage with adjacent bike rooms; guest apartments for rent on first floor; basement storage facilities; 3 passenger elevators and 8 freight elevators; and 24/7 doormen and garage attendants. Many of its spacious residences offer spectacular views of the lakefront, downtown, and the city's northwest side.
Bryn Mawr Avenue just west of the EBA is a lively community of restaurants and shops, many housed in distinctive Art Deco buildings. The old British Consulate (now an apartment building) is a half block from our door. Immediately adjacent to the north end of Lincoln Park, the EBA is steps from the tree-lined lakefront bike and running path and Hollywood Beach. The Bryn Mawr 'L' stop is two blocks away. Several CTA buses, including a Michigan Avenue Express, stop just outside the building.
